Lil duckie is alert, eating, drinking, peeping and breathing fine. All is well! Got some pretty webbed feet!!!
I do actually have save-a-chick! I will use that. It says to use 1 packet in 1 gallon of cool water. If I mix up a gal, will it still be ok if I refrigerate it for later use? Although, it says "make fresh solution daily." Didn't know if anyone actually follows it or does their own thing.

I would think you could make it up and keep refrigerated or just make small batches I think heat destroys the vitamins but keeping it cool would be alright. That is one adorable duckling and love those colors. hows pipping coming on next one?

:-D no name so far, my daughter just calls it duckie.

and I had another idea for heat/humidity.... I put a heating pad (wrapped in a thick towel so it wouldn't get too hot) underneath the bator to see if that'll help. Hopefully it'll make the moisture rings in the middle a lil warmer and get that humidity up! I've also had a mini space heater in the room its into keep it steady. Feel like I'm spraying lots of water just to keep it up :/

Seems people using bators have a harder time with duck eggs than chickens, can't help much since I don't use them, just keep an eye on the membrane as they pip.
