Could he be a "fighting" cock?

Thanks guys

Got another question, how long do roosters live, and is there any way I can tell how old he is? I have always had a feeling he's an older rooster but not sure.

I have to say that is the most beautiful color pattern I have ever seen! Gorgeous boy and you are lucky to find such a beautiful "stray"!

Did I mention he must have wandered over from my house....ahem...can I have him back now? (kidding he's not mine but he is breathtaking!)

It's funny, he went through a "molt" a few months ago and I thought he was dying or something. He looked dreadful and I thought something had gotten him or that maybe his time was up. Then I saw all of the pinfeathers on him and noticed all of his feathers in their bed. So he's sporting now, I guess for spring and to "impress" his womens... a new "coat." He's a proud old boy

Yup, American Game rooster. The color is called "Grey" and they are a strain, although from the size of him, he may not be purebred. Looks like a really bad dub job, but a handsome fellow none the less..........Pop

By the way, signs of leg mites. Please catch him off the roost at night and treat his legs with anykind of oil to drown the suckers. Carefull of the spurs, he probably isn`t used to being handled and will struggle more that the usual rooster. Good luck.

He's the second or third "stray" bird I've seen since we've moved here. Unfortunately, one stray got hit by a car and that's the first one I found. The second was a bird I'd never seen before and had no idea what it was... I thought it was some strange kind of turkey or wild game bird that lives only around here. Later identified it as a guinea fowl and sometimes I see it on the hillside behind our house. It may be wild, I don't know. This rooster... he was skinny, almost frozen to death and I am amazed at how recovered he is now. And the ladies love him

Seeing as he's dubbed, he may have been kept for showing or fighting. I wouldn't put any other roosters with him, but other than that there shouldn't be any issues at all. Game chickens are very intelligent, hardy, long-lived, and if handled a lot, super friendly! As I said in the identifying thread, he is downright gorgeous.

Also when you say any kind of oil what do you mean? I was thinking of going up to Farm Bureau and maybe getting some kind of treatment from there. I am afraid of handling him because he's never let anyone pick him up.
