Could I get another bird, would it be okay for my quail?

Hi all! I plan on getting another bird, like a parakeet or other type, would that be problematic for my quail? Would he feel less lonely? I want my quail to be happy and less lonely but until I have enough money for another female quail, he’s all alone. If I house them separately will that be less of a problem? Thank you!

Well I'm going to say no.
If you have enough money to buy another bird and a cage then you have enough money to buy one quail.

If you're going to get another bird, your quail will be happier with other quail. If the one you have is a coturnix male, you want at least three females for him. If he's a button, one female will do.

Not a good idea to put hookbills in with quail…..parakeets can be really rough with other birds and can even kill them.

If you don't have enough money for another quail then you definitely don't have enough for a parakeet. You'll need to get a proper cage, which won't cost less than 100$, then add at least another 100$ for good perches and toys, which need to be replaced often.
