could i have a broody hen?

hi, my orpington hen has been sat on 1 egg all day, i took her out of the nest box and put her on the floor of the coop, where she just sat down in a pancake shape all spread out and her neck feathers were all stood up at the back, she didnt go for me tho, is this a broody hen do ya think?

i hate to think shes ill and im blaming it on her wanting to be a mum!

She sounds like she might be broody. What does she do if you stand her up and make her walk? My buff orp would puff up like a basketball and walk around growling or she would just plop down and sit when I took her off her nest only to dive right back in as soon as I turned my back. Mine was never aggressive to me either when she was broody but my other hens couldn't stand her attitude when she was broody lol.

when i lifted her off the nest she didnt even put her legs down, just plopped down really flat, but when i took the egg away she walked back and sat on the nest again ive kept the egg out of the fridge incase i decide to put it back under her, i dont want her sitting on 1 egg for 3 weeks, dont mind if she has a few to hatch tho
