Yep, all I see is feathers

I think the blu-kote bottle says not to use on horses that are intended for food. It is possible they are an odd exception or maybe the bottle doesn’t say that, it is just what I read on BYC forum. I should look into that.

There are no eggs to throwaway yet from this hen and that is why they are separated.

I hope she gets better soon; my wife wants her laundry room back.

She's a GLW, right? Amazing, I was going to take photos of one of mine and post it - right now it's just her tail, but she's doing the same thing! I was going to try Vicks on her, it stopped picking for Stumpy, and I was hoping it would put whoever off that's picking on her, if she isn't doing it herself - which I think she is, because I never, ever see anyone picking at anyone else nowadays. They're 27 weeks old now, just a week shy of seven months. I'll see if I can get a photo of her this afternoon.

I don't think it's a GLW. I forget what it is called, but I think “black” is in its name. I haven’t seen them for sale on the hatchery sites. She is a big feather-footed gal though. Here in WI we are a little late for molting I think, (below zero at night (outside)) but she may not know any better. If they molt, do the feathers fall out themselves or do they need to be pulled out by the bird (or a friend)


I am glad to hear that other birds have done the same thing.

I had a EE hen who was completely NAKED in 2 days when she molted...but the feathers came back very quickly in 2-3 weeks. She looks like a brand new girl now! I'd still up her protein...it helps during molting.

Your girl looks like a Cochin or a Faverolle to me????
