could someone tell me what this is on my chicken?

my chicken has this cyst looking thing on her back i pressed on it a little and it feels rock solid

Welcome to BYC! It looks like it's an infected feather follicle. I would remove the skin at the tip and squeeze the pus out.

i didnt happen to get any pictures. But this girl had feathers growing under her skin! there wasnt that much pus but the more i pushed on the bump more small feathers popped out, that must have been hurting her

oh thank you i just read that, i will check her out again tomorrow!

It's her oil gland, she'll use her beak to express oil from it and use it for preening her feathers.
