Could these chicks be Cuckoo Marans?

I was giving some eggs that hatched yesterday. I do not know what these little biddies are. I am thinking French Cuckoo Marans. They DO NOT have feathered legs but I have read that some pet quality Marans don't. The eggs were light speckled brown not dark but I have also read that a new laying Marans hen will lay a lighter speckled egg before they darken up to the nice chocolate color everyone wants.

In the last picture the chick's feet are yellow and have a dark wash on the front.

No, I'm not... I don't have a clue what they are. I have never seen a barred rock chick before. They were surprise eggs from a co worker's son who live off & she couldn't remember what he said they were. She is asking him but I am impatient.

Can you tell what sex they are by the spots on their heads? I have read that it can be done but I'm not sure how.
