I know its been asked 10,000 times, and I've read and watched videos and listened to quacking recordings. I'm sorry to ask it again. I have two American Pekings, about 17 weeks old. Neither has a drake feather. Both seem to be quacking as females. But one has a slightly stockier build, thicker neck, larger head. I thought it to be a male. It follows the other, always, never leads. When they mate, its on top 90% of the time. But then sometimes the other duck is on top. Again, no drake feather on either, and they both sound to me like they are quacking. Originally, I had a different duck, that was lost to predators, so my son gave me one of his that matched my female in age, and insisted it is male. But, to me, they both look/sound female. i guess my real question is, could it be that two females have adopted roles as though they are male and female?
