1) Whiting (new breed from McMurray), 6 wks, same size as ths others afaik
2) The typical curled toes / cant use legs thing that is probably Mareks. Bright, alert, eating and drinking on her own as long as its within reach without getting up.

3) Started yesterday. I saw her during the day laid down with a leg out but I thought she was just stretching / dust bathing. Last night she was in the same spot and not on the roost and I noticed her legs arent working
4) Afaik it's just her. Everyone else was roosting last night. BUT she roosted two nights ago so its fast.
5) Afaik no trauma just very sad legs.
6) Mareks probably but I'm hoping someone has another answer.
7) Chick starter with amprolium & plain water. And whatever she finds in the dirt in the pen. I've given them some weeds and homegrown lettuce before but nothing with pesticides and nothing mouldy.
8) Poop looks normal but it was covered in food so I dunno for sure.
update: fresh stinky poop

9) All I've done is brought her in so she can sit with food and water within reach and not get trampled by her clutch-mates
10 ) My treatment hopes would be to fix her but lol I know that's unlikely.
11) Pictures attached
12) She lives in a pen that's roughly 14' by 7' with 19 other same-age birds. The floor is dirt. Its previously had pine straw and leaves so theres probably bits of that in there too.

I have had a bird die of Mareks before but I've had many healthy birds since then. My current flock is American game crossed with Orpington so I fear they may be heartier than this new designer breed I've taken on. Please spare me the Mareks lectures; I am aware of its contagious nature and that it's "preventable" with the vaccine. I am opposed to the vaccine since **it doesnt actually prevent the virus, it just masks it, allowing the bird to be a carrier**.

Poor girl... seems like your doing everything right. I've freaked out with chicks acting weird on one leg and it's just been growing pains, but two legs
doesn't seem good. Looks like she is isolated?

If you’ve had deaths in the past from Marek’s, it makes sense that it’s appearing again. Though your current flock doesn’t show symptoms, it sounds like they’re still carriers who are spreading the virus to your new birds.

Can you think of anything else it could be or anything I should be doing? I'm just making sure she has food and water so she doesnt starve to death.

When I had a rooster with balance issues, @Eggcessive recommended that I treat with vitamin E and selenium, since a lack of those can cause paralysis/loss of muscle control. I believe I was advised to use eggs, nutridrench, and vitamin E capsules to combat a possible vitamin deficiency.

Did you check for a possible Ear Infection? Ear infections can cause balance issues.

so update on the chicken which has been named Marthe (pronounced Martha- idk ask @black_cat)

she is still alert and eating and drinking on her own. she cant walk properly but shes not sedentary. she just kinda... propels herself forward sometimes until shes in the corner of the cage and is stopped. but I put in a more grippy floor & I've been taping her feet flat and spread to try to give her something to stand on. she can sit up, like equivalent to kneeling for us, pretty well. I think she could in theory learn to walk on her knees but shes not there yet.

no one else is sick, and her condition doesn't appear to be deteriorating.

and good healthy poops still. I move the food and water to wherever she happens to be at a few times a day and shes always eager about it. shes eating chick starter so I'm not so worried about grit. I tried to give her scrambled egg but she didn't ID it as food. that's what happens when I raise chicks without moms; they dont get the memo on what's delicious.

Is she still the same weight as she was before? How does her keel bone feel?

I had a chicken like this, she started to get swells at the joints, I would watch out for that.
