I have 4 pullets about 4 months old, the person I got them from wasn't sure of when they hatched just said first part of December 2023. I am going to place with my flock. This flock is 5 that are 10 weeks old and a rooster and pulled that are also 4 months. I have the 4 in a different coop at night and put them out in see no touch area during the day. I have done this for 4 days now. From the 1st day my rooster immediately went over to them and seemed to be dancing for them. He has done this every day now as soon as I bring them out. He also has come over to them when I am putting them up for the night and they start screaming as I am picking them up. I'm not sure if he is wanting to protect them or just coming over to see what the commotion is all about. My question.... Do you think this is a sign he is accepting of them or should I wait a little longer to put them with the flock? TIA.

The cockerel will be happy to have new pullets anytime. If you wait a bit longer it might make it go smoother between pullets. Make sure to have hiding places (not traps) when you put the groups together. With birds just reaching maturity in both groups, expect a few squabbles when you put them together.
