I have 5.... 2 day old Wyandotte chicks.. all of them seemed to be drinking and pecking food.. this morning one was dead... tonight I find down the side of the brooder a huge wasp.. could this have stung the chick and killed it? I am in the UK and it wasn't a hornet, just a common wasp. As I am new to this could someone suggest why it died.. thank you.

Possibly. The venom causes swelling and a sting in the wrong spot might have closed the airways.

I don't think the wasp has enough venom to kill a chick by poisoning it. The things they kill are quite small. Multiple stings by many wasps might possibly kill a chick.
