I woke up to no rooster crowing in the basement because I actually managed to find him a good 4H home. Had to let go of a hen to make that possible, but I still have 3 pullets and 6 hens outside.
Too many blessings to count really, but it's been weird! New mattress getting delivered today because of husband's poker winnings. The money to play came from a cast iron gumball machine with all it's original pieces selling on
Ebay for $777. What a strange selling price!
He had been hurt in Iraq and booted out of the Army as soon as he was healed enough. But he wasn't hurt badly. Found the PERFECT house to squat in when we moved back home, coolest land lady ever. There right when we needed it. Could be here 2-3 years, as long as we need, until we can buy a house or some land.
Didn't have too bad of a transition getting out of the Army. They got the money right from day one so we didn't have to think about starving or mooching off family from a typical paperwork screw up. VA has been great, really on top of things.
Even chickens fell into a place, finally got a coop that looks half way decent, no frost bite or anything this year from building fails. Eggs everyday!
Now we need the 2nd car to fall in our laps. Our new car did that, just appeared out of thin air for a wicked great price, just when we needed it. Like the exact day we had to turn in our rental car in DC but had another month to be there. The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a great program, they'll donate a rental car for up to 3 months to the family "care taker" of a wounded soldier. Our new car was in the lot at the dealership next door to the rental office. We were waiting for a cab, and the thing called to me. Drove it home the next day. $10,000 under suggested retail. First "new" car we've ever had. I called my dad and told him to sell my blazer for whatever he could get out of it (a whopping $700, that's the sort of car we're used to) There's a big difference in how a car with 22 miles on it and one with 222,000 miles. ALL the buttons work! So weird! LOL And it hasn't caught fire! (chrysler newyorker burst into flames on the interstate.. good times. Good 'ol Blazer started smoking under the passenger seat in the seat adjuster mechanism but didn't actually make flames)
Things have been so great, makes me wonder when the set of 3 bad things are coming. Almost like we've been led around by an unseen force. Last time things fell into place like this all perfect, my mom passed away, then 2001 two weeks later (the day before my brother's birthday) and then my grandma passed away 2 months after that. Then everything went perfect again. So weird!
But right now, my brother and my dad both are getting promoted at work this month. Husband is starting school and applying for various jobs that suit his "altered abilities" as I call it, we'll see what happens there. I found a great barn to go riding at. Critters are all healthy. Puppy is starting "school" soon.
There's nothing we're in need of, and that's a great thing. So I've been donating a lot of what we don't need but have. Have also been looking at volunteer things, I have a lot of time to give.
