Countdown to receiving new chicks on oct 9th week

Those blue eggs are very pretty. Sadly a second chick died today, there is one that looks a little out of it, I. Noticed her right away ...she is eating and drinking no pasty butt...just moving slower than the rest. I did individual pictures....I'm just kinda bummed ...
I'm so sorry to hear that :( Which one, do you know? Is there another one that looks out of it?

I was losing one a day this past hatch. It was really bad. I was afraid to check the brooder :(

Once they get past the 3 days, losses are far less. This is the first time I have ever had losses, so it could be this time of year. Naturally chickens' breeding season is in the spring.

This one here is not an EE, and I'm thinking Welsummer. It looks just like what I've seen.

Dont forget they are all newborn babies and will sleep lots. Plus not every breed reacts, grows, responds the same. I would just watch and see how it does in teh next few days.

I received my shipment from the hatchery today also. 6 Salmon Faverolles and 2 Light Brown Leghorns. Two of the Faverolles were dead in the box when I picked them up this morning, and two more were too weak to stand. I have given them sugar water throughout the day, and managed to get a little egg yolk and yogurt into them this afternoon. They seem a little stronger, and are able to stand and walk around a bit. The Leghorns and the remaining two Faverolles are eating, drinking and active. Hoping the weak ones pull through since they have made it through the day. Such cute little yellow fuzzballs!

Oh no poor chickies. I hope they pull thru for you. My little ones have loved hard boiled and scrambled egg. Today they got mashed sweet potato and loved it all good sources of natural goodies. Keep us updated.
