THANK YOU all so much for the help! And what she says^^^^ I have tons of questions about the cement. My sis told me yesterday that the "in" thing is cement. I am flabbergasted to say the least. CEMENT??? omg. OK I like it. Your gonna have to give me your cell phone number so I can keep coming back to you LOL j/k.
I am so sick of this kitchen.... right now I have to walk 10 steps to get from my stove to my sink Grrrrrrr. Course a man in the 50's slapped this kitchen together. I don't even have a countertop around the stove.... its in a corner all alone. How stuuuuupppiidd.

I have Corian counters which are fine in the bath but I'm not happy with them in the kitchen, they scratch. It's not easy to scratch them, but I have kids, things happen. Next time I will try a concrete or a quartz if not actual granite.

My tile floors I love!!!! They hold up to the heavy wear and tear of kids and dogs and are easy to clean. I do have a dark grout so it's not a problem to keep them looking good. I dropped a bottle of candy apple red nail polish in the bathroom, let it dry then wiped it up with polish remover, it all came right up, no sign of the spill. Try doing THAT with any other surface.

Michelle can you get me a picture of your floor? I do want to go darker grout in the floor and the big tile. I saw a pic yesterday via google and loved it.

DH (with my help) did the whole kitchen. He picked out most everything, especially the tile. It is a very durable type, and we used epoxy grout. We were told this was "easy" to work with - NOT! But its supposed to be stain proof. So far, so good. I cook nearly every meal in here. It's been nearly two years and still works fine. The stainless steel trim has been great too. I would use this system again, even though its a pita to install, and not cheap.

Stupidbird-I love the color of your cabinets! Excellent color offset to the tile.

The cool thing about corian is that you can sand it. Use steel wool to take away scrathes and polish your counter

Dark grout is key with tile... someone said "mushroom" That'll work! No white, no cream.

My little house has the original beige laminated countertops and the gouged up soft pine flooring. I absolutely hate having wood floors in my kitchen! I want tile or laminate wood flooring there and something like silestone countertops. No money, though. Other things take priority.

I hear ya speckled hen. This is going to take a loooooooooooooooooooooong time to do, BECAUSE of money. But do it I must. StupidBird, can you show me where you have your frig, cause your layout is ALOT like what I am going to be using.
