Counter tops and flooring - what do you have

Here's a pick of the kitchen at my old home. It had laminate which we changed to Swanstone (It's like Corian). With Swanstone you could get a seamless sink -- so the countertop and sink were all one piece. It was a great sink! I couldn't find as large of a sink to go in my new home. It was very deep and large. It was a small kitchen, but I loved it!

I'll post pics of my current kitchen -- it has the Silestone (quartz countertops -- my favorite).

You would be surprised how cheap all this if you are willing to do the work yourself.

I mean, like supercheap.

We do everything ourselves, but I have a porch roof that's leaking (but the house roof is going to need replacing and no need to do the porch till time for that) and a car that suddenly needs repair and no income other than retirement pay. A new kitchen counter will probably have to wait another couple of years. Would love that. The floors? Probably won't get done till we're dead. We'd have to move into the bsmt to do them since my kitchen, dining area, and living area are all one and take up half of the house. Would have to climb out my bedroom window to exit if I tried to refinish floors while living here.

Chikee I like your OLD kitchen LOL this is a test.... if I can get a picture to show here, I will show you my kitchen. I did start yesterday, I painted the ceiling. Next step are the walls.

Cool, I can do this. Pics to come
NO LAUGHING OR SNICKERING FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY when you do see them. I do believe a farmer in his 60's designed my kitchen.

I am standing in an arch way here, to the extreme right is a door where you enter from outside.

then going around the room...

Check out the stove.... no cupboards or countertop in sight. That nice cabinet is the new ones. Just trying to position things, see if it fits. Oh and remeber where my sink was? 13 feet away from my stove, and check out where the frig is too, I tell ya I do more running than cooking in this kitchen.

Bathroom door smack dab in the center of the wall. There is NO way to move it either.

then looking into the archway to the rest of the house, we knocked out a wall and added on another 16 feet I think, I love that room!! Went overboard on the window, but oh well. It was cheap on Craigslist.

But what I really, really love are these pantry cabinets. DH made the storage bench, MIL bought all the fabrics and cushions.
