one, would it be possible for a solid colored chick from a cross between solid roo (aussie), and a barred hen(BRxBO cross) to be a rooster... I know it is supposed to be a sex link crossing, but one of the solid brown chicks we got from that crossing has a larger and redder comb than the other solid colored ones from that crossing(age of chicks is just over 3 weeks)... not as large or as red as the obvious roos, but larger and redder than the girls( their's are still tiny and yellow)... also, I know that australorps as a breed are fast growing... Mick, our aussie, grew incredibly fast... but is it normal for that trait to only be passed on to some of the offspring in a crossing... two of the five that we have from that cross are twice the size of any of their hatch mates... not that I mind, just curious...
