What is the difference between bantam and standard? dumb question, i know.

I have 2 WCB Polish, 2 Sultans, and 2 Silkies (1 partridge 1 grey). I consider these my "fancy chickens"

I also have 8 Columbian Rock X RIR (2 roosters) and 6 RIR X Columbian Rock from the local feed store. I'm not sure right now exactly how old they are, but will be laying mid-september and my Roosters have been crowing a couple weeks now.

Anyways, one of my "fancy chickens" crowed yesterday, I just am not sure which one! None of them look like boys. Could someone please post pictures of roosters in these breeds!?!?!

I now have three roosters :S :S :S

Bantams are very small. Some are true bantams. But a lot of them are just tiny large or standard chickens. Like you have cochins and then you can have bantam cochins that are alot smaller. Sometimes there is a difference between the standard and its bantam counterpart. LIke less eggs or such.

You can go to Feathersite.com to see pictures of all the different breeds. Just go the feathersite, then click on The Poultry Page and go from there.

The difference between bantam and standard (large fowl) is size. Many breeds have both a standard and bantam form, where some, known as "true bantams", do not have a standard-sized counterpart. There are also many LF breeds that do not come in a bantam size.
