cow milk verses goat milk

I had goats 35 years ago..(a small herd of 22) after we got rid of them I could not stand to drink cow's milk. I have had probably 3 glasses of milk since.

we always monitered very carefully what the milking goats ate. I bought animal grade molasses by the 5 gal pail and mixed it with a little grain. fed it as they were being milked.. it keeps them standing still, and they fight to be the first one up on the milking stand.. and I think it sweetened the milk also..

milking stand... I would think a miniature cow would be difficult to get under to milk by hand.. can you train them to jump up onto a milking stand??

also for lactose intolerant people.
some can tolerate goats milk..
we loaned one of our milkers to a family for a couple of years for their young child..

Have you ever tried it freshly cooled? Pastuerizing goats milk breaks down the capriolic acid (as does moving it around a great deal) and produces that "goaty" flavor. Unprocessed and as close to the source as you can get it is best.

We have dairy goats, their milk is sweet and creamy. Actually, too creamy/thick for me to drink straight. I've been meaning to get a cream separator.

I agree with wifezilla, I tasted it once and it tasted YUCK! like I was drinking billy goat pee escence. I also got some mexican carmel sauce made with goats milk once in the clearance isle at super wal mart. OMG, sweeteded billy goat sauce! GROSS. I think some people are just more sensitive to that taste!

Nothing, I repeat NOTHING, you buy in the store is comparable to what it tastes like fresh.

It is true, store bought goats' milk tastes like you licked a goat.

Fresh, properly cooled and stored goats' milk tastes like sweet cream.

Got some goat cheese...FRESH white goat cheese from a woman who keeps her female goats separate from the male. It still tasted like goat.

I'm not a big fan of goat cheese either. But cooked into things, it will lose the "goat" taste. Like using it for lasagna

Enviro...if I had room, I would get those mini cows in a heart beat. I love cow's milk in all its forms

ks...that was just one of my many goat milk experiences. Seriously, I gave it MANY tries.

That is because of the specific culture used to intensify the flavor. Other cheeses made with goats' milk and other cultures are quite different, just as different cow cheeses have different flavors.
