The wacko in a tree stand comment is uncalled for.

My brother hunts and he is a great guy. I know many wonderful people who hunt and are true sportsmen/women. But there are some hunters who really only want to make the kill. I've known of farmers that have lost cows during hunting season. (How the heck do you mistake a cow for a deer?) My brother climbed a tree and had some people shoot at him, despite the fact that he had on one of those bright orange hats!

I don't think he meant his statement to be taken against all hunters just the crazy few who don't follow the rules and are kill happy.

That statement was TOTALLY not meant as a slam on all hunters. We have some really bad folks in our area. They are definitely "wackos." They are poachers, not hunters. Hunting illegally. Killing cows, pets, etc. and don't care.

Hunting on our property, shining our cows, stealing gas out the gas tank of your truck while you're at church.

No, I'm all for hunting. Keep game populations in check, etc. Eat the meat, don't shine and shoot our cows and don't shoot our dogs. Stay off our land.

Two bucks and a coyote thrown in the road near my house. Bucks had their horns removed... that's it.

Oh my gosh. Look at all that wasted meat. I would think all the meat would be more valuable than the antlers. And in hard times like these. I would figure poachers would take the meat. What a waste.

Hey and not all poachers are bad people. Some are people just trying to survive. And need the meat. But to waste the meat. That is very very bad.

Did you turn it in to Fish and Game? Here in the county we live in we have had some good Rangers that have a high conviction rate for poachers.

Somewhere there is someone bragging about the rack he got. That is often their undoing.

I have at times ran across this sort of thing while out hunting and to say it infuriates me would be an understatement.

You want a trophy? That's fine but do it right, get permission, buy a tag and then donate the meat. Slobs have no place in the woods.

First off my husband and my family both hunt. Some hunters are wackos!! Most hunters see brown and shoot, you do not know how many wounded deer we see running around here with a leg shot off. I once heard my stupid uncle tell my cousin(it was his first time hunting) "if you see brown shoot, someone will get it for you" My hubby, dad, and brothers quickly corrected that statement.

As for your Heeler sorry he went missing, if that was truly his pup that would be cool thinking that there is a generation of him running around out there. I never knew that coy dog and coyoteXwolves existed. I know of a wolf malamute and he is the sweetest dog ever even cares for baby animals and tries to take care of them. Just remember, every single dog, cat, ferret snake etc is descended from a wild animal.

ETA:
I hate poachers someone poached and albino doe at my grandmothers house and let it lay 2 weeks ago. Also my neighbors do the same they just cut off the head or take the tender loins. We found a pile of 4 deer in their woods last year.

WOW!!! Iether the coyotes in your area are really small, or the coyotes in my area are REALLY big. The average sized coyote here is the same size as a large German Sheppard. That coyote in your picture looks closer in size to the foxes we have around here. The difference in size amazes me.

i think the same way im for hunting but tat is OUTRAGEOUS. I like to think like the indians use every bit of the animal.

Not seen but hear them every night. Although the coydogs we have in Maine are different than in other parts of the country. From my understanding the ones around here are a breed in itself not a mix between a dog and coyote. They are only out at night and make a loud yipping bark opposed to howling. I have been told that they are the loudest during a kill and the yipping stops as abruptly as it started.

Coydogs = just another reason why pets should be spayed/neutered and not left to roam. We have at least one in our area that runs with one of the local coyote packs. At night you can hear him among the coyotes. The coyotes have that high pitched screaming howl, but he has a booming deep howl. he sounds like he is straight out of a werewolf movie.
