Coy Dog- In case you've never seen one. - Graphic Pic -

Several people own dog/coyote crosses and try to sell them as dog/wolf crosses. It's astounding how many people fall for that one, and go around bragging about their wolf dogs. Scary things . . . nothing worse than taking the fear of people out of a feral animal.

The closest thing to that I've seen as a pet was a huge wolf/malamute cross that was at our local animal shelter. He was HUGE. I don't know why anyone would want something crossed with a wild animal. No matter what, deep down inside, they still have that "wild" in them. It is ingrained so deep in their psyche that you can "train" it out. That's my opinion.

A tiny bit off topic. But sort of along the same lines. I just got done reading an article today about wolves and coyotes mixing. They say it give the animal the cunning of a fox. With the appetite of both. Meaning they kill large and small game.

Cool! Thanks for posting this. Not off topic, in the least. They talk about the increased incidence of coydogs in the Southeast.

Good read. Think I'm gonna post it on my Facebook page.

Your welcome. I think I read another article. But cant find it now. Ill post a link to it if I find it.

Now this may be slightly off topic. My cat that I adopted from the vets office 16 years ago. Yes he is still alive. The vet swears that he is part Bobcat. Maybe not half. But more like 1/4 or a bit more. And he is a rather large cat. But not fat.

When I was a kid we had a huge pack of the larger stray dogs, coyotes, and their offspring. We saw them often. They were terrifying. They actually killed an entire herd of cattle before being eliminated. Shortly after they started being hunted down, my neighbor found a starving, tiny, mixed pup. He was a tough old farmer but just couldn't kill that baby. She ended up being an AWESOME dog. My brother and I played with her all the time.

It didn't sound like a 'poor me' post.
