MEchickenfarmer33,

Thank you.

I feel like I'm fighting some silly battle.
IF it is possible that a poisonous shrew (and we know they exist) could have been the cause of my dogs death...why are peeps finding it so incredulous?

Sadly, it has to happen to someone once to be a subject we talk about.

I had a healthy, happy dog until that day.
I have never said it was a FACT that the shrew did cause my girls death but as a dog mom- I do believe that is what happened.

All I was really doing was asking about about coyote pee and chickens. (I have some beautiful girls that I love very much)
I suppose I put that part about my pup dying because I miss her and I freaking hate shrews.
It is always present in our home that one of us is not here.

Crappy part, my dog would never have hurt that shrew, just wanted to play.
We have a pet rat and my dog liked the rat.

IF on the off chance it could really happen- just watch your kid better than I did.
I had no idea we had poisonous shrew.
I have a fully fenced yard but these shrew burrow.
They are in my kids playground.

It was just a FYI not a debate.

I am very sorry for your loss. The very best male dog that I had from a pup died the same way, despite blood tranfusions and all other treatment.

I've read there's been issues with heartworm meds and many other common drugs and vaccines being the trigger. Most causes are never found. They pretty much can't rule out much of anything as a trigger.

It was believed to be due from a tick bite with my boy, who developed tick fever. Very heartbreaking.

I'm sorry for the loss of your boy.
It is the worst kind of pain to watch your dog suffer like that and you can't do anything.

It is heartbreaking.
Mine's still broke as I am sure yours is too.
There is a huge void in day to day life and you never forget.
There is always something missing, even on good days.

Thank you for telling me about your boy.
It helps to know that I'm not the only one.
(I know there are many of us but I appreciate you sharing your story with me)

Maybe your boy and my girl are running and playing together in a pain free place.
Happy, the way they should be.
