Coyote took off with one of my free range chickens

yeah I have my birds in somewhat large poultry yards.. I have seen 3 coyotes looking through the fence.. but Sat when I was just outside the yards a hawk hit a 7 wk pullet at the other end about 200- 300 ' away I got there before she was killed and she may make it.

Thanks for all the advice, y’all! We’ve been free ranging for a year and have all kinds of predators but this is the first chicken that has gotten killed or even attacked by one. They have a lot of big evergreen trees that they hide inside of and climb up. They’ve just recently gotten brave and started wandering out near our pasture which is where this one got snatched. We plan to fence off that area for cattle soon but we haven’t gotten around to it. May have to be something we do sooner rather than later and put our donkeys out there to take care of some business.

I just heard the coytoe howling last night. i left the house today at 1..got back at 3 an i heen crying ever since its 7:00 now. all 3 my chickens dead..nothing but feathers left behind. I"m heart broken! i had just nursed my hen back to health. I jus read the state of california where im at pay average people to kill coyotes! I'LL BE DOING IT FOR FREE!

Sorry for your loss. We usually hear coyotes at night but not this year, I snared(trapped) 3 last winter.
