We had a lot of coyotes. A neighbor gave some fellows permission to hunt on his land. There were coyote dens on his land. Apparently the fellows took him up on his invitation. For awhile I did hear some gunfire coming from the direction of his property usually around midnight. Apparently they must have gotten them because I have rarely seen any coyotes in quite awhile. I have several game cameras up around on my property. I used to see them every night roaming around. I did get a shot at one but had bird shot in my gun. I'm pretty sure I hit it but didn't kill it but it did run off. Here is a sample. I have electric wires around my coops and pens and I'm pretty sure the parents of the pups teach them not to mess with the wires.
I had some motion lights up. The predators got used to them.
I've never heard of anyone here live trapping one. My neighbor down the road catches a lot in snares. We had them so bad here a couple years ago, we could sit out in the pasture and shoot them during the day.
This is true. A coyote will kill many other predators if they get the chance such as fox, bobcat, what ever they have the opportunity to get, even dogs and cats among other prey.
