Coyotes....Hawks...AAAARRRRG!!!

Sweet Cheeks, I don't know what any of the weird noises they make mean. I just know that it's kinda creepy when you're outside in the pitch black and they start in close to you and you can't see a thing!!! Talk about making your skin crawl!! Luckily, they aren't interested in eating humans!!!

Redwood Forest Bantams - What start are you in? My buddy is in Missouri, my chickens are in Illinois (right on the border). According to him, he is legally able to trap a raptor that is preying on livestock, and relocate it. He can not keep it though unless it is the designated season for that.

That's different from state to state? Raptors have made a big comeback, it seems like the Govt should either make some allowances for dealing with livestock depredation (in those places where they haven't), or start compensating ppl for the losses.

The govt shouldn't be able to have it both ways, keeping a predator absolutely inviolate while offering no compensation to affected owners of poultry. Just my opinion.

Here's a link to a whole bunch of varmint/predator calls, free for download:

I'm not an expert on this, but I do know that if you want to call in coyotes, wounded rabbit sounds work well.. and sometimes coyote pup sounds work even better. Don't just run the sounds continuously, be natural about it. Play a sound for a bit, then wait a few minutes in silence, then play it again for a bit, then wait again for a few minutes in silence, etc.

Good luck with your coyote problems folks!
