My property has a six ft block wall all the way around it and when I let my chickens out the coyotes jumped the fence and within ten minutes all that was left of my chickens were feathers. Does anyone have a solution for this problem because I still want to let my new batch of chicks out when their old enough. thanks

Welcome to BYC!

Sorry about your coyote issues. The only way to keep your birds safe from these predators is build a secure run. We have coyotes here and there is no stopping these things. A good coop and run is all you can do.

Welcome to our flock!

Please build a sturdy enclosed run for them of 1/2" hardware cloth securely fastened to wood or metal supports. You need a solid cover for the run, and maybe strands of electric fencing at maybe ground level, half way op and around the top to discourage coyotes. Are you in an area where you are allowed to shoot them, or trap them and then shoot? They've have easy meals in your yard and will keep coming back unless you stop them permanently.

So sorry about your loss ....

I have Coyotes around here all the time and only shot one and it was a pup that happened to be small enough to get in through a small hole somewhere in the fence it is the Bob-Cats and Fox that are the problem's ...........

Maybe you need to add some wire to the top of your fence at least 2 feet ....
