Cracked an egg

Make sure you keep an eye on the one with wax when they start hatching. I used wax on one I cracked. I dropped another egg on it at day 7. When it pipped and tried to hatch the wax stopped the shell from coming off. I peeled the wax off and it hatched out fine on its own. I didn't take the wax off untill it was already hatching on its own.

My son just accidently bumped the bator and knocked an egg off of the turner

. It has been in the bator for 2 weeks now and we could see growth inside it very well. I don't think the membrane was broken as I didn't notice any liquid leaking from the egg. I had a birthday candle and melted wax over the crack. We coated it very well and put it back in the bator and maked it so, we could see it from the window.
I've read all of the comments so, I have my fingers crossed for a positive hatch. This little egg is a shipped egg in an LG bator that just got cracked. What more could go wrong?

I have an egg that had a little peck mark on the top. I sealed it with wax. I just candled and it's growing! The problem is the little embryo is directly under another hair line crack that I didn't notice before. I'm torn between letting it go and trying to seal it. My concern is will the hot wax hurt the embryo under the crack. I also have medical tape I could use. Has anyone had this happen before and what do you think I should do?

I'm not sure about that. The airsac on mine developed in the narrow end of the egg even though we always had it pointed down. I'm guessing because that was where the air got in before I could get it sealed. I started with a birthday candle and just dripped some wax over the crack, but I soon realized that wasn't going to work. I ended up using an unscented votive candle & just barely dipped the egg in & blew it to make it cool quicker & dipped it again. When I was sure that I dried enough, I put it back in the bator in the center away from the coils and turner motor. I checked it quite often to make sure it wasn't melting. Later, I blew out the candle and dipped a q-tip in the wax and smoothed the sides down around what I had done before. I was just so scare I was going to drop it before I could finish fixing it. When I locked down the bator, I loosened the wax so the chick could hatch. Mine made it to lockdown and that was it. It never hatched. I just new it was going to make it. I saw movement up until day 18 when I locked the bator. I checked again at day 22 and nothing. I left it for one more day for good measure and nothing happened. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I saw the heartbeat at day 4 so I didn't want to take the chance of hot wax over the embryo. I decided to put medical tape over the cracks that I could see. I checked two days later and I had a big blood ring....sigh. Win some and lose some I guess.
