I just got a free bag of cracked wheat, and was wondering if I could feed it to my chickens for treats.
Would it be bad for them???
I don't care if it doesn't have any great dietary value. It would just be for treats, I would probably add it to the sunflower seeds I give them everyday.
Thanks!!!

I feed wheat every day as part of my feed. It has a protein of 12-14% usually, and it excellent. Layer feed is usually 16%.

You can feed 10% of the total intake in treats and be just fine! Make sure they have access to soil for grit, or grit is provided by you. That is the only way they can digest the whole grains in the gizzard- with some grit.
