Hey,
I know alot of you could be chicken vets with your experience and I have a question. Cracker was a crippled runt i rescued from the feed store. She could sit on a ritz cracker and not cover it. She is a runt about a third of the girls her age,has ADHD, and my favorite. She has never laid an egg while the others been laying since june. She is pretty much healthy and all over the place. Will she have problems not laying as she gets older? I really don't care if she ever lays she is worth every dollar to me.

You never know. We have one similar named Harley (but my boys just call her crazy) she's good for entertainment even if she doesn't lay, so we keep her around. She's also surprisingly friendlier to the new babies our mama hen just introduced to the flock, so they all serve their purpose in the end.

I have also had one of my girls I thought for sure was never going to lay start laying after all the rest in her brood had been laying since last August. So there's always hope.

If she has other health issues it's likely she'll never lay, or lay very sporadically. But it shouldn't impact her lifespan, however long it might be. I have a special needs bird and she laid 6 eggs her first year, 4 eggs the second. If she lays this year it'll be a miracle, but then again I figure it's a miracles she's still alive.
