Cranky rooster

My advice is if you want to keep him you need to show him you are the boss. I have 3 silkies roosters. All came to me with nasty attitudes. They would lunge at me and try to throw up their nonexistent spurs. If you're quick grab their legs with three fingers of the dominant hand. Your pointer, middle and ring. Placing the middle between their feet and the other two on either side. And flip him upside down. This doesn't hurt them it chills them out and let's them know you're in charge. You may have to do it a few times for him to get it. I did it to my silkies and they stopped challenging me. Another example was with my bantam mix. He always lunged at me and he had spurs but I was able to not get hit. Because hes so tiny I didn't take it as much of a threat. Until one day I bent down to hand feed my hens and he lunged at me and hit me straight on with his spurs. Right there I flipped him. And held him there for bit. When I put him back and stayed away the next day he lunged at me again and I flipped him again. Three times and that was it. Now I respect him and he respects me. When I go into the coop he keeps calm and let's me throw the food. He allows me to hold him as well without any problems. He's now a good mannered roo. Hope this helps
