Well we had to catch her and erect a pen, we weren't sure she would be OK but she's eating, acting totally normal. She's in with all the marans hens and we will reunite the family tomarrow.
We were ignorant, our great pyrs protect the whole property, no raccoons, opossums, coyotes etc can set a single paw on our place without being Pyr snacks. We arn't sure what got to her, but she must have been defending her babies and then took off to hide and left them all alone... one pyr was out, but he certainly was not what got her, he watches the chickens like a hawk and is totally calm around them, he's guarded chickens in the past, we think he interupted whatever wanted her, but it could have easily been too late so we are making safe pens and coops for sure... thanks guys!
