Interesting.. On what charge?

Failure to yield to an emergancy vehicle? Turning across a double yellow line? Illegal lane usage?

My thoughts exactly. This is by no means the police officers fault.

Ill get back to this one.

Is it illegal to make a left hand turn if there is a double yellow line?

What was illegal about the lane usage?

Did the car signal it was turning?? I couldnt see on the video very well??

Never mind..i see your other post...he did have his blinker on...
Tough one then... because he didnt yield, BUT... maybe he didnt know the cop was coming? Although, he did have his siren on....

All I can really say is, it cannot be the cop's fault because of that idiot driver in the way. You are supposed to pull over when an emergency vehicle's sirens are on so they can get through.

Oh hai, I live near Tigard...

Did he? It gets turned off as he makes the right turn at the light an only come back on as the cop changes lanes less than 2 seconds before impact.

The blinker by the way is amber an under the breaklights. I beleve you can make it out before the breaklights come on an can see it a fraim before impact but its hard to say for sure.

Hmm... well.... its a tough one...
Maybe the guy didnt hear him then.... interesting!

Lets see...

The passenger car was definitely most at fault... At night with the lights flashing behind him, I can't believe he didn't notice the police car... he should have been over on the right shoulder at a stop or crawl for the police car. It's actually almost like the passenger car panicked, with the way he suddenly swerved to the left like that.. makes me think he thought he was being pulled over and tried to do the ole "park and remove keys"

However... though the police officer was not truly at fault and shouldn't have consequences... he should have slowed for passing the vehicle as a defensive driving thing. For all the hurry I see the police cars and ambulances in around here... with everyone pulled onto the shoulder and two-way double lanes open for them on the main road, they still slow right down when it comes to passing... you never know what some freaked-out driver is going to do, as the video demonstrates.

PS Rebel - How do you do this?? I keep trying and failing to embed videos from youtube in posts or in something I'm working on... and no matter the code I use from the youtube thingamie... it doesen't work for me
