Hello, My name is Laura, and I just happened to fall upon this thread...
I have NEVER taken a cake class or lesson in my life....But love to make cakes, an only o so for family members and friends Birthdays....Here are a few I have made.
Everything I make on the cake is Edible, and I make my own Fondant and Gum paste....I know they are far from Professional, but it is something I love doing if I have a chance

I took an action figure and made a caste of it..then cut it into the individual (hands, face, legs. ect...) Then I took my molding chocolate and let it dry in it, them put together, hand painted and glazed to a high shine with cake glaze....

About the "cricut" I do not have one....My mom has one that does paper (a small one) so If i see a pattern I like I will blow it up on paper an cut it out to make a template...I will then put that on the fondant and rake my blades and CAREFULLY cut out the patter (takes forever, but worth it)...Like I said I only do this for families Birthdays

What kind of tools do you use? Is there a certain brand of knife you prefer? You definitely have some talent. I know I'd have a hard time cutting out that pattern and applying it without the fondant drying or cracking.

Is there any reason you paint the fondant? I just find that mixing my colors is WAY easier and more uniform. And you applied cake glaze? I've never seen that done on fondant. Usually just getting the fondant wet with water or color makes it shiny and glossy. That's really interesting. Did you buy the glaze or make it?
