Okay so here's my question and where I get stuck. I'm the type of animal owner that only wants to give my babies the best.
So before I give them anything I do insane amounts of research and compare what others say.
Sometimes that ends up with me stuck in a decision I have trouble making. Lol.

I have read nutridrench is a great one, I've read about poultry cell, and there's one by durvet I've read about.

But I don't know which one to get and which one to use. Is poultry cell the one you would recommend?

I think a lot of us feel like a fisherman walking down the artificial lure section at Walmart wondering which lure will catch fish and not the fisherman's wallet.

Nutridrench is mainly salts and sugars, its great for an over heated bird on a summers day or one that hasn't eaten in 3 days, but it isn't great for rebuilding long term. A couple days on nutridrench and they can get diarrhea, its just too salty.

I hadn't read that anywhere yet. Which is why I haven't bought it.
So nutridrench would be great to use in the Florida Heat every so often to help them avoid heat exhaustion or dehydration. But not so much of a vitamin supplement. Good to know.

Can you keep poultry cell or a vitamin supplement is their water long term? Or is that a bad idea?

For reference my laying Hens eat Nutrena NatureWise Layer 16% Protein Crumble Chicken Feed as their normal feed. Along with fruits, veggies, scratch mix, dried worms and live worms, and have access to both forms of grit in their run. They do not truly free range, they have a run that is about 300 square feet.

Ha! I like your metaphor! Feels pretty accurate.
I don't fish, never have, but I get what your saying! Also my walmart doesn't have much for livestock or chickens. And my tractor supply has very little in the way of medications for chickens. Talk about irritating.

I feel like at least half the products out there labeled for chickens. Whether is it chicken supplements, chicken treatments, chicken health aids, or chicken coop supplies and accessories... Are a gimmick. A way for the companies to make money because a lot of the stuff they are selling is either unnecessary, doesn't do what they are advertising, or has questionable ingredients in it.
It's why I'm so hesitant to buy and try most of it. Unless it's been on the market for YEARS and is tried and true, used and praised by professional/reputable chicken farmers, I'm really hesitant to buy it.

Hiya, Amanda, and welcome to BYC!

We didn't have a fly problem until the farm across the road sold a few years ago to a lady with horses. We use horse bedding pellets in the coop so there's no wet poop in there so beats me why they were in there but you had to hold your breath so you wouldn't breath one in.

My sister who raises turkeys commercially put me on to this stuff. I just spray one dot on the window, and one on each of the walls. It lasts a month. The dead flies are safe for the chickens to eat.

It's pricey, but I bought my can about 5 years ago and it's still over half full. We've used nothing else. It does a wonderful job!

Yes you can mix in Poultry Cell in the water every day for a couple weeks at a time, not indefinitely, (it should be changed out daily however) it can also be dosed individually via empty syringe orally. Sometimes one or two birds could use a dose here and there. Generally healthy birds don't need added supplements however if they are recovering from something like Pox, it can only help them. Probiotics too.

For a baby chick boost, I use Nutradrench. For the chickens on occasion or if I have a sick one, it's always Poultry Cell. The first one is fast absorption, but Poultry Cell is more complete.
