I'll offer 6+ Cuckoo Marans eggs. I'm in Maryland! I'll say 6+ because that's all I can guarantee right now this early in the season, but I'll include all eggs laid within a 3-day period.
I've been breeding these for a few years now, and my birds are not from hatchery stock. As anyone who breeds Marans is likely to tell you, they are a work in progress.
They are big, friendly birds. I keep both feathered and clean-shanked birds--while I'm working towards the French standard for type, I put priority on egg color. So a hen with clean legs that lays a nice egg is of course more important than one with feathered legs that doesn't.
ETA: I'll pay shipping to the winning bidder.
ETA#2: I posted this at home, and when I checked the thread on my computer at work I noticed that the eggs looked a LOT darker on this machine than my laptop. I know that pictures can look a lot different depending on the computer you are viewing them on--I don't want anyone to be disapointed when they actually get these eggs! I would give them a solid 4 on the Marans color scale, no more. The parents of my current laying flock often gave me nice 5s. It is unusual for a Cuckoo to consistently lay much darker. I think that these guys will give me stronger 4s/5s once the weather isn't so wonky...but right now, I'd say 4. They are nice size eggs with a pretty russet tint to them, but they are not extra dark. Anyway, I just want to be upfront and honest about the eggs...so if any of you are seeing my eggs on your screen and they look like chocolate, it might be your monitor...
If anyone has any questions about my birds or their bloodlines, feel free to shoot me an email or PM. I'll gladly answer questions!
