Crazy Egg Chain

I'd love to get involved, but my problem is cooperation of my hens. They just started to lay and fertility is a question. I have 3 RIW hens and 5 EE hens and only one of each are starting to lay. Nothing from the bantum turken hen yet. I cracked one of my EE eggs last night, but saw no bullseye. I have 4 RIW and 3EE eggs sitting in a carton. I'm waiting to fill it up and pop it into the bator to see if things develop. I'm still a week and a half from knowing and then I'd be ready.

and the fact that its only pure breeds that narrows it down alot. i mean i have no problem with it. just alot of people have like say a BO roo and some BR hens or and EE roo and some RIR hens or whatever, so those people couldnt swap here, AND if they make thier own thread it might not get as much action sinc epeople are over here

But would you feel the same if someone kept trading their Black Copper Marans for someone else's White leghorns or something else like that. I have had people pming me for Barred Rocks and my EE's but I can't supply that many yet due to weather conditions. I do think trading more than twice a day with the same thing is a good limit and I think if the trading hasn't moved in 12 hours it should be started over. Just my opinion. Maybe next time we should setup a mutt trade also. The biggest problem right now is weather though. Later, dave27889

I agree with Halo too. There would be plenty of variety, and as was earlier stated, even if two people offered the same breed, it would at least be different lines, which might interest a lot of people. I think it might be best to start a new chain with new rules. Let this one run until the new rules are compiled, then just start the new one with the current offer on this thread. That way, no one will have to offer a free set with nothing in return.
I started a new thread inviting people to join in...hope that's ok.

The problem w/ offering mutts is that if that person takes purebreds and offers mutts that isn't fair to other people who would offer purebreds...and most likely it would stall the thread.

We have to keep it purebreds. Theres a reason the "mutt swap" is slow....no one wants them. Personally, Id also rather keep it just chickens, but thats just me, and Im not sure thats a popular opinion.

There is already a seperate quail/pheasant swap thread. Maybe if someone offers something non chicken, like say, ducks eggs, they should offer a chicken egg alternative as well and let the next claimer choose which they want?
