CRAZY Hatching Experiment.............

I'm "smokin" a Pork Tenderloin in my homemade smoker this evening. The smoker is in my "Chicken Area" (fenced near the backdoor of the kitchen.) I also use this area as an "outdoor lounge" for myself.

Whilst "foolin around" with the smoker, I noticed a "wild-bird egg" lying on the ground in that area, underneath a Chinese Elm tree.
I picked it up, figuring to throw it away lest my chickens ate it and become "egg-eaters".

But, the egg was intact with no apparent breaks/cracks.

So, on a lark, I set the egg underneath my "broody" Buff Orpington hen along with her own eggs. Just got pecked a few times in the process.......

The egg is white. It is about the size of a VERY LARGE marble. It may be a dove egg. It may be a sparrow egg. It could be a Grackle egg...but I haven't seen a grackle in a few weeks. I dunno what kind of egg it is OR what might be the incubation time.

I just thought I might see IF it hatches.

I'm going to have a "VERY Disgruntled and Disappointed Hen if she hatches a Dove BEFORE she hatches Chicken chicks!

IF the wild egg hatches...poor darn bird is going to grow up acting like a CHICKEN !!!

Sometime, Somewhere, Bob Dylan MUST HAVE written a song about something this STUPID !!!

when my wife was a little girl she and her sister found some turtle eggs and put them into a dresser drawer.. when they hatched,, the SNAKES were everywhere..

I HOPE the snakes WERE NOT rattlesnakes! A garter snake or 2 OK a bull snake or 2 OK.

A rattlesnake or two..I'm either blowing shotgun holes in the house or moving!
