At his age, the only way to whether him would be by a vet under anesthesia and is not without risk of complications during surgery as well as risk of infection.

Bucks typically do not make ideal pets.

Depends on how big hi equipment is. I have castrated a number of fairly good sized bucks with an elastrator. You pull the scrotum through first, and then work the testicles through the band one at a time. Then you give a tetanus antitoxin shot. The buck will be unhappy for a few hours, but by the next day he should be fine.

Everyone I have known as goat experts, and from my known experience I would not band males. It is painful, high risk for infection, and sometimes does not work properly and messes things up. The best way is using an Emasculator. Which is suppose to be done around 10 weeks of age. But it may be possible in adults.

Google it. It clamps for a few seconds and breaks the cord. It only hurts for a moment, and no blood or infection.

Yes. Vet would be the safest and best. Not sure if a vet in your area would do it. I live in prime farm country and none of the vets around here will work on goats or chickens.

I put my billy in the pen with my horse earlier. He attempted to make baby's with her and she kicked him in the leg.Dangit

Now hes in a separate pen and getting banamine.I had to put him on the ground and hold him down to give him the shot.I still cant get the musk smell off my hands.lol

hes already a year old so it would be useless to wether him now.But maybe I can get him a GF.

I don't know what your goat experts are doing wrong but they are doing something. I have castrated literally hundreds of kids and bucks with an elastrator over the years and never had a problem. Never. I have friends who have castrated even more kids and lambs than I have and they never had any trouble either. I always made sure the animal was vaccinated for tetanus. Other than some transient pain, the goats did not exhibit any discomfort after a few hours. You can cut the scrotum off below the band in a few days if you like.

Bucks can be castrated at any age. If you don't know what you are doing it should be done by a vet. Be sure that the vet knows that a buck has as much blood supply to the testicles as a young stallion.

A girl friend isn't going to help. He is going to be awful until he goes out of rut.
