L&S I am still tempted but I have no more crele phoenix to get rid of, we sold the last extra rooster on eggbid for $0.01. Next year they should be breeding pure and we are going to start another line using barred leghorn bantams. We will have eggs later in the spring and birds in the fall.
I wonder if there are silver brabanters, they would probably look like spitzhaubens.

I was thinking about possibly getting some spitzhaubens to try and improve my Ideal line, but they would no longer be pure breeds. But, I believe they would still have the right look and be good winter egg layers.

I would be very interested in some of your Crele Phoenix next year for sure. If you want to trade, I would be fine with that too. I have a pair of bantam Phoenix from Eve Bundy in CA who is a show judge and has excellent birds. We could trade that way too, if you didn't want any Brabanters.

Their flock is from Ideal origionally too. I woould love to find some NOT from Ideal.

Yes, everyone's start from Ideal, as I said earlier, but judging from Banter's stock I would say HandH has done a nice job starting to refine them. This is how breeder's work, right? Take the best of your stock, keep it to breed, take from the next generation, and so on. As I said earlier, there are private breeders (I think Allen Wranch shared this with me in a pm) but they won't come out in public.....

For anyone that doesn't now, the Cream variety is not yet recognized by the APA, as I think Loren said earlier. But that is my favorite color, so I am sticking with them.

I hope Amazondoc weighs in here. I know she likes the breed too.

My girls laid all winter-can't get them to start up again! They are enjoying the last few lovely days before the snow. Can't blame them!

Yes, I like em too! I would love to find a few good quality birds. I thought mine were pretty nice. Unfortunately they were in the batch of birds that got killed by one of my dogs!

I just won a batch of brabanter eggs off of ebay, and will probably start incubating them later this week. I would like to cross them with the white orpingtons I have now, to see if I can get the cream coloration in an orpington. Should be interesting

One thing I have noticed about them, they eat a lot. My roo eats non stop! I let 2 coops out at a time and he goes right into the different coop and starts eating!

The hens seem to wander more, but they go back to the coops to eat too. They are not all day foragers like the other breeds I have. One of them seems to always be in the coop eating feed.
