The Brabanter breed itself is not recognized by the APA. They are an import and have to meet certain requirements to even be eligible to apply for the APA. Marans breeders have been trying for years to get their breed accepted by the APA.
In Europe, where the breed is shown, the cream color is not a recognized color. I suspect the US cream is a gold crossed with another breed (Spitz or Polish ??) to get the color.
They are not related to the Spitzhauben, but rather to the Owl Beard. Unfortunately, there are no Owl Breeds in the US...
