I've seen two vets. Have administered oral and topical antibiotics (2 types) and the eye seems worse. I've tried two homeopathic remedies and an eyebright eye wash. No improvement. I'm so upset. Did anyone's chick recover with this malady? :-(

I wish I knew what was wrong. I am not sure what to tell you but I am keeping an eye on this thread and hoping someone around here knows what to do and just has not seen this thread yet. Best wishes.
Thank you. I'm trying to come to terms with the possibility of losing her. I haven't given up all hope and will try another home remedy tonight since the antibiotics don't seem to be helping one iota. I'm a sad new chicken mom. :-(
Any other signs of respiratory issues such as sneezing, coughing, rales, etc.?
The swelling is most like full of pus, which in chickens is a hard, cheesy type substance, without getting that out it will get worse.
You can have your vet try to get it out, some people lance it, others will flush with saline and start working the pus out with wet qtips and/or tweezers. Sometimes squeezing the gunk out.
Flush well again and apply your ointments. You may have to clean it out a couple of times more depending on they cause.
There are no signs of respiratory illness. There doesn't seem to be signs of pus. The vet squeezed it quite a bit. There appears to be fresh blood when he turned the eye inside out. He wasn't comfortable lancing it without an X-ray of course.
Thank you for the reply. I will read the links. I've got her penned separate from the flock and will sleep her in the mud room at night for now. I can at least see her eye ball today and couldn't yesterday so I'm feeling a bit hopeful.
Thank you for the reply. I will read it all over to see if there are any other measures I can take. Thanks again.
Her eye is still swollen but I can see the iris and pupil today. She seems more spunky. I don't see foam or pus. I'm nervous to do a puncture or incision since I don't see these. I'm trying another homeopathic remedy and an eye bright eye wash and cold compress. I'm going to give it until the antibiotics run out to make a decision to do anything more drastic. I just don't have the experience to know for sure what is going on. :-(
I am at least heartened that she's eating, drinking, and seems more lively. She harder to handle today than any day since she became ill. Fingers crossed.
