Yes it is. And I have 9 more ordered. Just way too cold for shipping here now. Hoping to get the time to butcher some extra Roos before the new chicks get here.

Lucky that you could see the parents. I am actually thinking of going and getting 2 chicks from a local hatchery. Must be out of my mind since they are $35.00 each. Yeah, thanks for talking me out of that...

do you have an incubator? Because you can buy 6-12 eggs from any number of really nice breeders (most breeds but I know you can with Legbars in particular) and hatch them yourself and it brings the cost down per chick

I started my flock with hatching eggs won on a bid and hatched out 12 pullets and 5 cockerels from 36 legbar eggs. It was a few years ago and prices were pretty high. Won with a bid of 120 dollars. Based on a previous post, now I know why the seller was from ewecrazy but the eggs were shipped from Texas. To buy that many birds even now would be expensive!

I have a Brinsea Mini Advance incubator, but have added a Farm Innovator 4250 which holds 40 eggs. I was going to sell the Mini, but find it handy to have, like recently when I had the legbar and OE eggs as well as the Marans eggs with different hatch dates. It was easy to move the Lebar and OE eggs that were viable (5 out of 12) into the Mini, and leave the 24 Marans eggs in the 4250.

I thought that it would be less expensive to buy the eggs from Papa's because you can buy a smaller quantity of eggs. I have also bought eggs on eBay, but sometimes the shipping charges are more than the eggs. I recently bought Marans eggs from an eBay seller who is an hour away. Same price as the auction buy it now, but I saved on the shipping costs!

I got the most recent eggs from Papa's also because they were shown as auto sexing. I think that he has mislabelled his OEs as auto sexing. I believe that they are actually a hybrid. His is the only hatchery claiming that OEs are auto sexing.

I am now the proud owner of 2 gorgeous Legbar pullets, hatched on Monday as was my assisted Legbar hatchling - not sure if it is a he or a she!
