Just FYI she is 10000% a pullet, we are all so positive because Cream Legbars are an autosexing breed meaning they can be sexed by how they look at birth. That’s how we know yours is definitely a female! So glad she is, thank you for your help![]()
Yes I know for sure she is a cream legbar. Why, do you doubt it?Hi do you know for sure if she is 100% Legbar? My girls look like this. They are 21 weeks and about ready to lay anyway. Yours has a ways to go yet. They are very sweet docile birds. I hope yours does well and things turn out as you hope and this helps.
Hatch is the better term but ya know what I mean.Just FYI she is 10000% a pullet, we are all so positive because Cream Legbars are an autosexing breed meaning they can be sexed by how they look at birth. That’s how we know yours is definitely a female!
I know but as I am a first time chicken owner you like it to know for sure by getting the opinion of some people with a lot of experience. She is also the only one of my 5 eggs of cream legbar that hatched so I am extra happy she is a sheHatch is the better term but ya know what I mean.
Mine are very independent birds also and docile compared to my other ones. They get along well with all of my other hens and are never instigators or problematic in starting flock squabbles. They would rather not be part of them. I only have one in my three Legbars that is a true food hog and she has been since she was a chick but she has never been mean about it. She would just stay at the feeder all the time day and night when I left it down in the brooder when they were just days old up to about four weeks old before I started taking it up at night. She would roost on top of the long red feeder and literally sleep on it if I let her she was such a pig. She is one who goes psycho eating out of my hand also. She looks crazy with that plumage flying all over the place when she is pecking food ninety miles an hour out of your hand with no regard to mildly tender flesh. She just pecks away and doesn’t know if she is picking up food or skin or blood she is just going at it. Looking crazy. I can’t stand to hand feed her and just about won’t do it anymore she makes me so mad. The other girls I enjoy doing it even one who has seriously bitten me on the top of my hand really hurting me twice but that’s another entirely long story for another afternoon about one of my Flower hens. My Legbars are sweet. About me asking if she was 100-%. I didn’t mean to insult. It’s just I researched what their earlobes and nose coloring were supposed to be a while back on the internet strictly so it could be incorrect. But it wasn’t supposed to be black or dark. It was either red or beige one or the other but not black. It has a correlation to the egg coloring also. Like if it’s red per say then they will have the green or blue eggs like Legbars are Supposed to do for example. Then like for Black Orpingtons as another theirs are black so their eggs are supposed to be light beige eggs. I will see if I can find the article. It’s just sort of an informative article on how their coloring can help you determine egg color also when looking for who laid which egg but it usually works. And it came to mind when I saw her and she didn’t have the nose ears and eye coloring mine did for their egg coloring. That doesn’t mean she isn’t 100% not one bit. I am new to this all for 2020 in sexing and breeds of chickens. I have been around Vet stuff and taking care of all my life but the other business I am no expert and trying to constantly learn.Yes I know for sure she is a cream legbar. Why, do you doubt it?
She is very docile in comparison with my Silverudds Blues and my Welsumer. I think I will get one other next spring because she walks around on her own a lot and I really like her. Thank you for your help![]()
I hope I don't sound rude, but I think you got some misinformation. Ear lobe color does correlate to egg color, just slightly different than what you were describing...It’s just I researched what their earlobes and nose coloring were supposed to be a while back on the internet strictly so it could be incorrect. Thanks for your experience with them, I am new with chickens and like to hear everything about them. I didn’t know about the coloring of the earlobes and nose. Very interesting. The eggs I got to hatch were very pale blue. I will see what she will be laying, can’t wait.Mine are very independent birds also and docile compared to my other ones. Well that sounds exactly right so that is a good sign. I am looking through my files and photo libraries. I have a bunch on both my phone and Kendal fire, and computer. So it might take me a bit today to find that file for you but I would like to because it was handy info and practical to have just in general for chicken owners about breeds. It was helpful to me. I will keep looking on my down time. I will try to send it to you as soon as I can hopefully locate it.Thanks for your experience with them, I am new with chickens and like to hear everything about them.
