Blackbirds13 These are just beautiful!

his chest and tail angle and temperment is about all he gots going for him.He does have a straight comb and a crest tassel but im thinking i shouldnt be breeding from him

He looks really nice to me. He looks a lot larger and better color than most of the mature roosters I've seen in person definitely.

Why should you not be breeding from him? Is this the same rooster that is posted in your profile photos?

This is the rooster nicalandia seen the chest pics of. Both my foundation roos have great barring on their chest. Their sons have the typical cl chest barring. If i had some black bird hens :) i might try this guys or his brother again. But my hens are not passing this barting allong to the males. And thesenice barred chest roos are making hens with black tips on theirfeathers around the chest

My one cream roo that grew super fast was a dark down chick. He has real butter color cream in his hackles and saddles. He has the cream barred crest to. But hes produced 3 dark down boys this year so far and one girl thats growing fast like he did. This is probably the one you guys see in my pics. He didnt start out pure butter cream color but his neck has changed to it now.

My other cream roo may not be fertile or just doesnt breed well or often.

He looks really good. But ive got a bunch of clear eggs so i switched him out with my lightest down chick i ever got to see what he can produce. This is him , i havent tested him but i think he carrys a single cream gene

I thought this was interesting off the u of a blues thread.

Here is a quote from the study of the blue egg gene mutation origin.  ~~he EAV-HP integration site of the oocyan Mapuche fowl, the French Araucana, the Moss breed from Spain, and the Araucana and Cream Legbar chickens from the UK are identical and in agreement with historical accounts that the modern European oocyan breeds derive from Mapuche fowl. Similarly the genome integration site of the Mapuche fowl was identical to the North American Araucana [14], again confirming the origin of this population. These findings therefore suggest that the presence of blue eggs in Mapuche fowl, modern European and American breeds, did not involve birds from Asia despite suggestions of their travels with Dutch pirates [10], and that the oocyan Asian genotype has remained confined to China. This might be considered surprising given that many modern breeds derive from Asian lineages – for instance the Silkie, Brahma, Cochin and Croad Langshan to name a few, are now commonly found throughout Europe and North America.   Here is a link to the article  http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0071393

yes he "Cream" color is quite nice, BUT I see he lacks grey barring on back and saddle and his breast barring is diluted, but I also see nice grey barring on Coverts, Secondaries, so while he lacks grey barring on some of his body, he has nice grey barring on coverts and secondaries, something you dont see often posted here
