Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Pics
Blackbirds13,
I love what you wrote below on who you are with your birds. Those from Jordan Farms/ Pampered Poultry or Greenfire Farms, etc. are welcome to share their thoughts and direction. It's a very small side thing I've been meaning to add in is that cream legbar chicks have silver down.
BPS directly quoted:

Female: Silver-grey type. The stripe should be very dark brown, extending over the head, neck and rump. The edges of the strip should be clearly defined, not blurred and blending with the ground colour - the sharper the contrast, especially over the rump, the better. The strip should be broad; a narrow or discontinuous strip should be avoided. A light head patch should be visible, clearly defined in outline, showing up brightly against the dark background.

Male: The down is much paler in tint, the pattern being blurred and washed out from head to rump; it may be described as pale silvery-slate.

I'll post babies next.
I see type, production and plumage as going hand in hand. I think about the Marans and the problems they have because there was focus on dark eggs and correct color too much individually for too long. Finding a good BCM rooster is extremely difficult, even finding hens that are not too dark, too mossy or eggs too light and on and on and on is still so problematic. II'm try to put my focus on both.

A lot of you sell a lot of eggs and chicks - I have not shipped a single egg or chick and have only sold off 1 female and my rooster culls and I don't intend to show until I have something I'm happy with. Maybe next year I'll take a dive into the market place but probably not in any huge way until I'm truly happy with what I have to sell. I love the auto-sexing nature and the blue eggs of this breed for it's commercial purposes. My focus is different than yours as my interests are different. I'm small-time and will never be more than just a hobbyist for the most part. My show flock and my breeding flock have to be one in the same. Those with a bigger operation and more commercial goals will definitely have different desires that should be highlighted as much. I'm hoping the conversation will evolve to encompass both ends of the spectrum. As the breed becomes more popular and folks start to educate themselves about the breed and the desire for them increases they will be looking at the many aspects this bird offers. I think that those that do sell and have that commercial experience offer a great insight into those aspects of the birds that I would love to hear about. I don't have that knowledge base at all.

on the logo end. We can mix and match from one design to another and if anyone else has done any that they would like to share? I'll have to make note of all the critiques...

Yes, it's part of my recycle chicken money hobby program. Not in balance yet, it may be some day! Besides, shouldn't every home have one! FYI, you can find the 6th edition for a few dollars more.

My first two little boys looked fairly silver

That was their hatch day..... my next set of boys is very much darker. HOWEVER, take all I say about colors with a shaker of salt---because I got a 93, then subsequently a 68 on the color acuity test.

Here is one of the later ones

Those cream legbars are so tricky. If you want more baby pics and even a little video---you can scroll through the photos on my blog.

What an absolutely fantastic rooster. I can also see those tail streamers....looking forward to more pictures when time permits.

Also looks good to me, what color are his hackles? His saddle feather's look lemon. Is lemon a diluted red enhancer or is it a form of cream? Gosh, I need to read and re-read if I'm going to figure this out!!
ChicKat, where your original female chicks brown based or silver?

For those in the know, would these be silver? I ask because the females seem to be brown to me.
its Almost Impossible to tell Silver from gold or from red enhanced silver to gold wildtype(e+) chick down, but if I had to guesstimate I would say they look gold to me(cream should have not effect on chick down as barring does)
