Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

Pics
No, a pure line can Only be completely achieved by test mating to pure wildtype(RJF comes to mind, but Brown Leghorn could work) and then do a F1xF1 hatch about 100 eggs and wait for a surprice, if nothing unexpected(genetically speaking) then you have an stable pure line, if by any chance you get pure white birds and/or other phenotype then, you are still not at the pure stage get

Ah I've got it. So this proves that the GFF lines are not pure ;)

A bunch of baby chicks for everyone to look at down color. Will type out the description for gold down color next. Below is a link to a gold legbar rooster. I need to say that looking at UK sites there is a variety of what people are calling what. I truly don't know the answer. A gold legbar x a cream legbar is just one idea. It would make autosex chicks and blue eggs, right?

Pretty babies! Thoughts based on my research this week, again feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Gold Legbars were crossed with Araucanas to create Cream Legbars...so CLBs x GLBs would totally have blue eggs since blue is dominant over white! And the autosexing feature should remain the same. The crest from the Araucanas was kept to clearly mark a difference between the Cream Legbars and the Silver or Gold Legbars.

ALL of this males are Heterozygous for Barring(B/b+) please report their progress as they grow

thanks for the pics, they will educate alot of people in the future

the links shows gold legbars, not the possible answere to your question, can you please ask what you want the answer of?

thats correct..

reading on punnetts work I see no mention of cream Araucanas used to bring the cream gene to the legbar breed, just to introduce the crest

thats a nice idea that works only when they are not inter crossed between each other, then all bets are off

And the blue eggs! Ok. I was given a bit of a history today, that may or may not be true, which includes crosses between those original Araucanas and Gold Pencilled Hamburgh, Light Sussex, and Welsummers. Then some of the offspring (not sure which) were crossed with the offspring of a White Leghorn cockeral and a Gold Legbar hen. It says that over 4 generations the offspring produced were cream. I think we'll add it to the Yahoo Group if Curtis deems it more than a fairy tale :)

oh I found the paper.. and it states that Punnett was segregating cream from hens imported from Chile, were they Ameraucanas? who is to say they were other native american(south american) breed, like Rapanuis or any of the Olmec(Quechua, Quetro) breeds?
