Cream Legbar x with Barnevelder

So up to 8 and 8.5 weeks.

Still quite striking differences. Would 12 weeks be a good time to start feeling confident one is a pullet?

The cockerel started trying to crow last week at 7 weeks....still trying!

They've moved out now as they needed the space and it's not too cold here in London either. In the same run as the older hens (who all seem terrified of them!), but seperated so they can see each other but not physically interact.

You've got a pair. One definite male, one definite female. Her color pattern is even, her comb is small and pale, no wattle growth, narrow legs. I have no doubt it's a pullet, and I am pretty conservative when it comes to determining gender on here.

Thank you both @NatJ and @JedJackson - I was hoping so but great to have people much more experienced than me comment.

I'll aim to still keep posting photos of the pullet up to 12 weeks and then again at 18 weeks or so for anyone else's future reference.

A few days late, so effectively at 10 weeks and 9.5 weeks for the cockerel.

One more week after today and then I'll stop posting and do a final one once they are fully grown.

11 weeks and 10.5 weeks.

They've been in the run, physically seperated from the 3 other pullets (around 26 weeks old) and 2 older hens for 2 weeks now, so will think about integrating them soon. They are fine in their space for now so might leave it a little longer.

Last one for a few weeks. Pullet 12.5 weeks, Cockerel 12 weeks.

I've also included a photo of the Mother Hen and the Cockerel (Cockerel about a week older and when he fertilised the eggs roughly).

Parent 1! LF Cream Legbar - approximately 13 weeks (maybe 14)

Parent 2 - Bantam Barnevelder (in the middle, upright) approximately 3 years old

Will try and post back at 18 weeks but for now that's it. Hopefully it will help others who want to compare through the weeks, though obviously maybe not as helpful as cross between 2 different breeds and sizes...

Thanks for everyone's input on the thread, I've learnt quite a lot.

Hi @Flockking

Here you go, last photos I think as the cockerel is crowing (a lot) so is going to have to go this weekend as I'm not allowed them. They are both around 17 weeks now I think, and he seems mature and is trying to make more hens!

He's still about the same size as his sister, not the normal size difference you would see.

The hen is very pretty I think!

Not the greatest photo, but just for an idea of size. Bantam mum Barnevelder in the middle, who is considerably smaller.

I hope this thread is of use to someone in the future. Thanks again for everyone's input over the last few months.

Beautiful but sad he has to go
I had two cockerel who should be around 6-8 months they are brothers from the same parents, they inherited their dads character a total womanizer but the best part about it is they also inherited his crowing pattern which is only from about 6-7 in the morning and that was it, they wouldn't crow any other time unless they heard another roo next door
These boys ruled my flock of older hens together from a tender age but recently gave one up cus they started trying to kill one another out of the blue
