THIS IS THE BARE BONES OF A SILKIE'S "VAULTED" SKULL SHOWING HOW THE TOP SKULL BONES HAVE AN AREA WHERE THE BRAIN IS NOT ENCLOSED AND IS VULNERABLE RIGHT UNDER THE HEAD SKIN SO I DON'T BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT YOUR CHICK HAS. SHE PROBABLY JUST HAS A LOT OF FLUFFY ON HER LITTLE HEAD! :)
alright thanks! There is something still wrong with her face shape to me though, I can't put my finger on it. I don't think she will make it if she doesn't start to show progress soon. She still barely opens her eyes and she keeps her feet tucked up under her as though still in the shell. She isn't right... :'(

here is the healthy ones. I got 7 other pullets and 3 cockerels this time! It's been too cold to take them out lately, and family stuff, but the rest of this hatch look great!

wow that's an impressive amount of crest for his age. I am jealous. I'll have to take a new pic of my boy. he will be 5 weeks Sat

Oh, man, my 5 week old CL cockerel practically has a mohawk - big tuft sticking straight up. I should get some pictures.

I think all my chicken/chickens are destined for really big crests...

That was 2012 -- Dumbledore looked a lot like his dad at that age IMO..... In that hatch were two females and they look exactly like their mother carbon copies...go figure.

I've been so bad at getting photos, because I've been a bit overwhelmed with a bunch of babies this spring. But there's one boy that looks a lot like his grandmother, crest-wise, at 5 weeks. The CLs are really curious and personable in this group - the brooder is on a table so I can sit and look in on them, and they like to come over and stare at me when I talk to them. They also have fun following my finger with their heads - it's hysterical, watching their little heads going back and forth like little kittens at play.

See? CLs ARE the cats of the chicken world!

same cockerel, front and side view. He is now 3 weeks. He may have an OK comb. It seems to be growing in pretty straight. But the ones with huge crests seem to have wonky combs. Perhaps this little guy will have both
