Cream Legbars

I assure you I am not confused my info comes direct from the uk cream Legbar club

Gold legbars have no crest and lay white eggs

Cream legbars which actually come in cream, golden Crele and white have a crest and lay blue eggs because of the South American blue egg laying crested bird that was added

A gold Legbar and a golden Crele Legbar will resemble each other if the crest is lacking on the latter but they are not the same breed at sll

There is no such thing as the UK Cream Legbar Club. In the UK the Cream Legbar was part of the Rare Breed Association when the Cream Legbar Club in the USA was founded. I saw that they had submitted a petition to break away from the Rare Breed Association and restore the Autosexing Poultry Association. They were under a 1 year mandatory trial period for the Autosexing Association with the last up date I got.

There was a lone wolf opportunistic man in the UK that stole all the logos and club information from the US Cream Legbar Club and posted it in the UK stating that he was the Cream Legbar Club. The USA Cream Legbar Club had to sent a Cease & Desist Letter to him to get him to take down the stolen information and to protect the club's reputation. He changed names from the Cream Legbar club to the UK Cream Legbar Club and stopped stealing information from the US Cream Legbar Club (Thank goodness!). It was not just content from the Cream Legbar Club that he stole though. He also stole photos and editorials on the breed written by several prominent Cream Legbar breeders in the UK and posted them on his page claiming them as his own and claiming that these prominent breeders were endorsing his club. These breeders were lining up by the dozens to denounce this guy and his so called club. He is NOT a recognized organization. He says he is a club but has no membership and has never done anything to set a club up. I stay away from anything to do with him. Much of what he posts is not accurate. He put this "club" up as a front to try to position himself as some type of breed expert and mostly bashes others in the UK who are selling cream legbar in an effort to make what he is selling look better. He has a very bad rapport in the UK. The breeders there that have dealt with him say he is not very competent and they what he is selling isn't worth /10th what he is asking for.

I posted photos above. One hen, one pullet, and one cockerel were Gold Legbars (can you guess which ones?). They hatched from white eggs from the H&H poultry bloodlines of Gold Legbars (which was started around 2002) That line didn't have any cresting genes, cream genes, or blue egg genes it it.

My beautiful jerk of a rooster is loosing the points of his comb to frostbite they have a well ventilated no condensation home but I never counted on the fact that his comb is so huge it gets in the water every time he drinks
Daytime high yesterday was 28f and last night low 0f this am his comb points are swollen and bloody and he has blood all over himself from them
Coated his comb in coconut oil but I think it is too late
I moved them yesterday to a less drafty but exc ventilation building last night it was about 5 degrees warmer inside but zero condensation
I thought as long as he had a well ventilated no condensation home he'd be ok with minimal damage :(

That is really bad
But hopefully you can breed some more good pullets.
I bred about 30 cream legbar this year
Around 20 of them were hens.
I had left my eye on 2 of them that were beginning to look good.
It turned out that they Both have good crest colour legs etc.
But one of them began to get a floppy comb.
It is slightly irritating when she is perfect other than that.
The other hen is good and turning out into a great hen,
And best of all their eggs are the right colour lol
Here's a picture of the hen that I breed this year.
She came 3rd in her class at about 6-7 months old.
I have kept her for breeding next year
700

I am finding my Legbars take comb damage before my other roosters. They must have wimp genes. I was trying to keep a couple so I had roosters to show next year instead of cockerels. I am back to cockerels with the legbars.

I have to get a pic of my little CCL chicks. They're about 4-5 weeks old now and are just starting to show their crests. The roo that I had to use barely had any crest but I paired him with well created hens. A few of his sons are showing decent crests :)

I never thought about the comb dipping in the water...
We just have cold fog, but the condensation is turning the tips of some CL combs purple, thankfully not to the degree you are experiencing.

Wishing everyone cozy holidays!
