Cream Legbars

I also got cream legbars, Bielefelder, and SFH from Greenfire about 4 months ago. No losses, we had a freebie roo that almost died but we nursed it back to health.

The bielfelder hens are massive birds. my roo is still growing but is as big as the hens. I'm sure he will be impressive when full grown. yours seem to have much more yellow legs than mine.. might just be the exposure.

I kinda wish the free roo had been a Bielefelder, just to see the difference. Can't complain as the there is a noticeable difference in color, body width and feathering with the 2 CLB roos.

We had two roosters that were very different as well!! The one in the picture I think is closer to breed standard and our other one is almost all black and white. no color in the saddle feathers

I'm concerned about all the posts about the eggs being more green than blue. Should I try and breed a super blue egg layer roo into the mix? The SBEL roo is a mix of leghorn and legbar.

For your own personal flock you can do whatever you wish. but if you will be selling off spring I would not muddy the gene pool at all. I've heard that some colors will take time to develop like maran

It is worth a try . The chalk white egg color of the Leghorn should get rid of the brown tint that is causing the green tint .

Ralphie has brilliant blue eggs and an overabundance of cockerels every year. Perhaps there are other proven blues that we could tap. He's probably my closest fellow breeder. I recommend looking for a proven blue layer group and bringing in a male from that group for breeding
