Mine will both tidbit and dance, but not a lot because Jake is watching them always, and he intervenes if he thinks any unauthorized hanky panky is happening. Jake is my alpha male, a almost 3 year old birchen Marans cock. He's great with all the birds and doesn't wail on the other roosters any more than to let them know he is boss and they are not-boss.

Thats how my boy is too. Though my alpha male is an 3 year old cream legbar. Hes the best. Protective yet polite. Dances and calls hens to food, he lets them eat first. He watches over nearly 30 hens and divides his time accordingly. He even rotates the nights that he spends in each coop. Love him to bits. My beta male is a young barred rock male. Also polite with the hens and never over steps with the CL male even though hes twice as big. The CL male keeps him in his place without fighting.

I was curious about that too. I wonder if they just scrapped it because there weren't enough entries?

I'm just glad I took all the pics before winter got cold. Lost all my combs this year.

<Mine dance, but none of my roosters really wait to see if the "woman' is wooed by the dance, they just assume she is and act appropriately, or inappropriately whichever the case is.

Mine do the dance as well, and act inappropriately most of the time. Those poor hens.

Yes I agree that the legbars are less hardy. My Marans hardly ever face frostbite and are among the first to brave the snow. If I didn't force the turkeys in they would be outside still. I managed to keep my points on the males last year by making a special heated bachelor pen for my cream legbar cocks/cockerels, that switches over to a grow out pen in the spring. This year, I had emergency traveling and was away when the cold hit, so I already lost my cockerels combs this year.

I agree, my CLB's do not seem to like the cold. I live in Oklahoma, so the cold does not last long, and they seem miserable during cold snaps. My two roosters have lost half their combs due to frostbite. I feel bad for them.

Mine seem to be thriving in the cold. It was below zero the other night and obe of my pullets slept outside amd did just fine. The next morning she was just fine and stil! up in the tree.
